Bachelor of Business Administration
in Retail Management
Three years. Six semesters. 35+ subjects. Studied online while working full-time — and every module fed directly into the real work I was doing for clients in Google Ads, Shopify SEO, and eCommerce strategy.
Not studied in a classroom.
Studied while doing the actual work.
I enrolled online while already five years into Shopify SEO and performance marketing — managing Google Ads accounts, handling eCommerce clients across the US, UK, and Australia. This wasn’t theory I hoped to apply someday. It was running parallel to live client work, every single week.
The Retail Management specialisation hit differently because of who my clients are. Most Shopify store owners aren’t running a pure online business — they have walk-in stores too. Stock split across two channels. Footfall on one side, online demand on the other. The curriculum gave me the language to understand their world properly, not just the digital slice of it.
Manipal University Jaipur
UGC-accredited, consistently ranked among India’s top private universities. Same curriculum, same assessments, same degree — just studied online. A credential that holds up everywhere it matters.
Retail Management Specialisation
Product buying, store operations, supply chain, visual merchandising — the full picture of how a retail business actually runs. My Shopify clients operate physical stores alongside online ones. This is what helps me understand both sides.
CGPA 8.43 / 10
Achieved while working full-time across multiple client accounts. Not a number chased for its own sake — a byproduct of genuinely engaging with subjects that were directly relevant to the work already happening.
Why Manipal University Jaipur — and why it was the right call in 2023.
When I decided to pursue a BBA alongside full-time work in early 2023, the choice of institution mattered. Not for the prestige of it — but because a degree from a university that carries real academic weight is worth the effort. A credential that needs explaining isn’t one.
MUJ checked every box. UGC-recognised. NAAC accredited. Part of the Manipal Education and Medical Group — one of India’s most established education groups. And ranked where it matters most for a management programme.

The subjects that genuinely changed
how I think about this work
Not every subject in a degree hits you the same way. Some are foundational. Some you push through. And then there are the ones that genuinely shift how you think — the ones that show up months later in how you diagnose a problem, structure a recommendation, or explain a strategy to a client who’s not seeing the results they expected.
These six were the ones that moved the needle most for me.
Consumer Behaviour
This one changed how I think about search intent entirely. Understanding the psychology behind why people buy — motivation, perception, attitude formation, social influence — made me a sharper Google Ads strategist and a better SEO thinker. Intent isn’t just a keyword metric. It’s a human decision at a specific point in a journey, and this subject gave me the models to map that precisely.
Business Strategy
SEO or Google Ads without business strategy behind it is just activity. This subject gave me the frameworks — competitive analysis, market positioning, resource allocation, growth planning — to tie every keyword decision, every campaign structure, and every content piece back to actual business objectives. It’s why my recommendations don’t exist in isolation from a client’s bigger picture.
Digital Marketing
Graduated with an A+ in this — which felt like the degree meeting reality head-on. The academic framework around digital channels, paid media funnels, performance metrics, and conversion thinking reinforced everything I’d been doing in practice for years. It gave structure and rigour to what had until then been intuition built through trial and error across dozens of client accounts.
Retail Management
Scoring an A+ here wasn’t a surprise — this was the subject I felt most at home in. But beyond the grade, what it actually gave me was a thorough understanding of how a retail business really works from the inside. Most of my Shopify clients run both a physical store and an online store simultaneously. Retail Management gave me the vocabulary and the mental model to understand their world — the stock pressures, the margin decisions, the seasonal planning — in a way that makes me a far more useful partner to them.
Financial Management
Understanding how businesses manage capital, calculate ROI, and think about profitability made me a more commercially literate consultant. I’m not just driving traffic or hitting a ROAS target in isolation. I’m thinking about whether the marketing activity I’m running is actually generating profitable growth. This subject gave me the tools to have those conversations properly — and to understand the financial reality behind the decisions clients are making.
Business Analytics
Every campaign and every SEO engagement generates a constant stream of data. Business Analytics sharpened the discipline with which I read and act on it. Which metrics are leading indicators versus lagging ones. How to spot patterns rather than react to individual data points. How to build a data-backed case for a strategy change rather than just asserting it. It made my reporting sharper and every optimisation decision more defensible.
How every subject connects
to the work I do for clients
Every subject across six semesters has a direct line to Google Ads, Shopify SEO, Meta Ads, or eCommerce strategy. Here’s exactly how — grouped by service area.
Google Ads — Lead Generation
Marketing Management
Audience segmentation, positioning, and competitive targeting — the foundation of every lead gen campaign I build.
Advertising & Sales
How messages are constructed, how funnels connect to ad copy, and why top-of-funnel needs different messaging than bottom.
Consumer Behaviour
Understanding why people click and convert — motivation, perception, social proof — directly shapes how I target and write ads.
Business Analytics
Reading campaign data with discipline — which metrics matter, what patterns mean, and how to justify every optimisation call.
Customer Relationship Management
Lead gen doesn’t end at the form. CRM thinking shapes how I advise on follow-up, pipeline tracking, and real cost-per-lead.
Business Communication
Structuring reports and strategy presentations so clients understand performance — not just numbers on a screen.
Google Ads — eCommerce & Shopify
Retail Management
Product assortment, margin logic, seasonal planning — exactly how I prioritise SKUs in Shopping and Performance Max campaigns.
Financial & Management Accounting
ROAS only makes sense when you know the margin behind it. These subjects taught me how to think about ad spend profitably.
Buying
How retailers select and back products — directly informs campaign structure and budget allocation by category.
Merchandising & Supply Chain
Running ads on out-of-stock products wastes budget. Stock awareness keeps campaigns timed to inventory reality.
International Marketing
US, UK, Australia — each market needs different messaging, pricing, and seasonal logic. This subject built that thinking.
Quality Management
Consistent optimisation process, structured testing, weekly review discipline — not just reacting when things go wrong.
Shopify SEO
Business Strategy
SEO without strategy is just tasks. Competitive analysis and positioning frameworks drive every keyword roadmap I build.
Research Methodology
Validating keyword data across multiple sources, not just pulling from one tool — the same rigour research methodology taught.
Management Information System
How data flows through systems — directly applies to GSC setup, crawl-to-index pipelines, and technical SEO diagnosis.
Computer Fundamentals
Web architecture, server responses, how browsers retrieve pages — the foundation for understanding technical SEO properly.
Store Operations & Modern Retail Management
How retail environments are navigated — informs Shopify site architecture, collection structure, and UX decisions.
Quantitative Techniques
Traffic forecasting, impact modelling, priority scoring — turning an SEO audit into a ranked, resource-backed roadmap.
Meta Ads & Social Media
Digital Marketing
Full-funnel channel thinking — how paid social, search, and content work as a system, not in silos. Graduated A+.
Consumer Behaviour
Meta is interruption-based. Understanding what stops the scroll — emotion, identity, social proof — shapes every creative brief.
Visual Merchandising
How products are framed visually to maximise desirability — directly applies to Meta ad creative strategy and briefing.
Advertising & Sales
Offer design, persuasion hierarchy, and creative structure — the Meta creative IS the targeting, so this matters enormously.
Communication & Personality Development
Ad copy has a voice. This subject built the instinct for tone — when to be direct, when to be conversational, what lands.
International Marketing
Localising Meta campaigns for US, UK, and Australia — not just translation, but recalibrating the whole message per market.
eCommerce Operations & Business Advisory
Financial Management
Contribution margin, break-even ROAS, profitable scaling decisions — I think in business financials, not just ad metrics.
Logistics Management
Fulfilment delays and poor delivery experience hurt conversion rates. Understanding ops means I ask the right questions.
Warehouse Management
Inventory cycles inform campaign timing. Never run full spend on a product line about to go out of stock.
Legal & Regulatory Framework
Ad compliance, GDPR, platform policies — I approach campaign setup with the legal awareness this subject built.
HRM & Organizational Behaviour
Managing client relationships, setting expectations, navigating stakeholder decisions — the people side of every engagement.
Rural Marketing
Thinking about niche and underserved audiences — how to adapt strategy for markets that don’t fit the standard playbook.
5+ years of hands-on experience.
Now backed by the degree to match.
