You Can’t Fix What You Don’t Know Is Broken.
Most Shopify stores have 20–40 SEO issues actively suppressing their rankings right now — duplicate content, crawl errors, thin pages, broken redirects, missing schema. A proper audit finds every single one of them and tells you exactly what to do first.
Fixing SEO Without an Audit Is Like Treating Symptoms Without a Diagnosis
Most store owners try random SEO tactics — adding keywords here, writing a blog post there — without ever knowing what’s actually holding their rankings back. An audit tells you exactly what’s broken, what’s costing you traffic, and what to fix first for the fastest results.
SEO Issues in the Average Shopify Store
Most Shopify stores have between 20 and 40 active SEO issues — duplicate content, crawl errors, thin pages, missing schema — none of which are visible to the store owner without a proper audit.
Fastest Path to Ranking Improvements
Technical fixes identified in an audit — canonical tags, crawl budget, Core Web Vitals — often produce faster ranking improvements than months of content creation. Fix the foundation first.
A Prioritized Roadmap — Not a List of Problems
A good audit doesn’t just find issues — it ranks them by impact and tells you the exact order to fix them in. High impact, low effort fixes first. That’s how you get the most out of every hour of SEO work.
A Complete Shopify SEO Audit — Every Dimension Covered
Most SEO audits check 10–15 things and call it done. Mine covers every dimension that affects how Google finds, reads, understands, and ranks your Shopify store.
Technical SEO Audit Crawl · Index · Structure
The foundation of everything. I crawl your entire store and check every technical signal Google uses to decide whether to index and rank your pages.
- Canonical tag implementation — Shopify’s duplicate URL structure fixed
- Robots.txt audit — what’s being blocked and what should be
- XML sitemap review — bloat, missing pages, incorrect inclusions
- Crawl budget analysis — where Googlebot is wasting time
- Indexation report — indexed vs non-indexed vs excluded pages
- Redirect audit — 404s, redirect chains, and redirect loops
- Mobile-first indexing check — mobile usability issues in GSC
Core Web Vitals & Speed LCP · CLS · INP · Page Speed
Google uses page speed as a ranking factor. Slow Shopify stores rank lower and convert less — it’s a double penalty. I identify every speed issue and what’s causing it.
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — what’s loading slowly and why
- CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — layout instability causing poor UX
- INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — JavaScript blocking user interactions
- Image optimization audit — uncompressed images killing load time
- App performance impact — which installed apps are slowing your store
- Render-blocking resources — CSS and JS delaying page display
On-Page SEO Audit Meta · H1s · Content · Keywords
Every on-page signal Google uses to understand what your pages are about — and whether they’re worth ranking. Most Shopify stores fail on multiple fronts here.
- Title tag audit — missing, duplicate, too long, not keyword-optimized
- Meta description audit — missing, duplicate, weak click-through copy
- H1 tag audit — missing, multiple H1s, not targeting the right keyword
- Collection page content audit — thin or missing descriptions
- Product page content depth — insufficient for Google to rank confidently
- Keyword mapping — which page targets which keyword, gaps and overlaps
- Image alt text — missing across product catalog
Internal Linking & Architecture Structure · Authority Flow · Navigation
How pages link to each other determines how Google distributes ranking authority across your store. Most Shopify stores are a collection of disconnected islands — and it shows in their rankings.
- Internal link audit — which pages have links, which are orphaned
- Authority flow analysis — is link equity reaching your most important pages
- Navigation structure review — are collection pages properly linked
- Blog-to-collection linking — content driving authority to category pages
- Anchor text audit — over-optimized or generic anchor text issues
Schema Markup Audit Structured Data · Rich Results
Schema markup is how you tell Google — and AI search engines — exactly what your pages contain. Missing or incorrect schema means missed rich results and lower AI search visibility.
- Product schema — price, availability, reviews, SKU
- BreadcrumbList schema — navigation hierarchy for search results
- Organization schema — brand identity and contact signals
- FAQ schema — eligible pages that could show expanded results
- Review schema — aggregate rating display in search results
- Validation check — schema errors and warnings in GSC
E-E-A-T & Authority Audit Trust · Expertise · Backlinks
Google’s E-E-A-T framework — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness — is increasingly central to how it decides which stores to rank. Most Shopify stores have weak E-E-A-T signals and don’t know it.
- Backlink profile review — quality, relevance, and toxic link identification
- Brand signal audit — mentions, citations, and trust indicators
- About/brand content review — expertise and authority content gaps
- Review presence audit — Google, Trustpilot, and platform-specific reviews
- Competitor authority comparison — where you stand vs top-ranking competitors

Shopify SEO Audit — Real Questions Answered
How is this different from free SEO audit tools like Semrush or Ahrefs?
Free and paid tools give you data — they don’t give you analysis, prioritization, or Shopify-specific context. A tool will flag 200 issues and leave you overwhelmed with no idea what matters and what doesn’t. My audit filters everything through Shopify-specific knowledge — I know which issues are critical for Shopify stores specifically, which are low priority, and which require Shopify-specific solutions that generic tools don’t understand. You get analysis and a prioritized action plan, not a data dump.
Do I need GSC (Google Search Console) access to be set up already?
GSC access is strongly recommended — it’s the most reliable source of indexation data, coverage errors, Core Web Vitals reports, and manual penalty notifications. If you don’t have it set up, I can help you set it up at the start of the engagement. It’s free and takes about 15 minutes to verify ownership. An audit without GSC data is significantly less comprehensive than one with it.
How long does the full audit take?
The full audit takes 7–10 business days from the time you share access and complete the brief. The Quick Health Check takes 3–5 days. For Audit + Implementation, the audit phase is completed first (7–10 days) and implementation runs over the following 2–3 weeks. I’ll confirm the exact timeline when you book based on your store’s size and complexity.
Will you fix the issues found in the audit or just identify them?
The standard audit identifies and prioritizes every issue with clear fix instructions — you or your developer implement the fixes. The Audit + Implementation option includes me fixing everything myself. If after receiving the audit report you’d prefer me to handle the implementation, we can discuss that separately. Many clients start with just the audit to understand the full picture, then move to an ongoing SEO engagement for the implementation work.
My store is new with very few sales — is an audit worth it at this stage?
For very new stores (under 3 months old, fewer than 20 products), the Quick Health Check is usually the right starting point — it identifies your most critical technical issues without over-investing in a full audit before your store has enough content and data to analyze properly. For stores that are 3+ months old with a product catalog of 20+ items, the full audit almost always identifies enough high-impact fixes to justify the investment many times over in the organic traffic it unlocks.
Can the audit help if my rankings recently dropped significantly?
Yes — a ranking drop audit is one of the most valuable applications of a full SEO audit. Sudden ranking drops are almost always caused by one of three things: a Google algorithm update, a technical change to your store (theme update, app install, URL change), or manual action. The audit identifies which of these caused the drop and exactly what needs to be fixed to recover. I also include a timeline analysis — correlating your traffic drop with known Google updates and any changes made to your store around the same time.
